3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION


   HUMAN HEALTH HAZARDS -ACUTE:

INHALATION:

Corrosive to respiratory system.

SKIN CONTACT:

Causes severe burns.

EYE CONTACT:

Causes sever burns. May cause permanent damage to eyes.

 INGESTION:

Corrosive causes burns to gastro -intestinal tract. Nausea, vomiting and Stomach pain may occur. In     severe causes blood may be vomited.

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL HAZARDS :

Gives off hydrogen by reaction with metal.

 

4. FIRST-AID MEASURE


 INHALATION:

Remove to fresh air, rest; treat symptomatically .obtain medical attention immediately.

SKIN CONTACT:

Speed is essential. Remove contaminated clothing .wash off affected area immediately with plenty of water. if severe burns have occurred and areas of skin are destroyed ,cover the burned area with clean dry non fluffy material an obtain medical attention.

EYE CONTACT :

Speed is essential. Immediately gently irrigate with clean water for at least 15 minutes. Move eyeball and keep eyelids wide open and apart whilst irrigating. Obtain medical attention imp immediately.

INGESTION :

DO not induce vomiting without medical advice. if conscious washout mouth and give one pint of  water  to drink .Obtain medical attention immediately.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Note to physician: probable mucosal damage may contraindicate the use of gastric lavage.Measures against circulatory shock, respiratory depression and convulsions may be needed.

 PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS :

Keep people away from and upwind of spill / leak. Ensure adequate ventilation. An approved

respirator must be worn  if  the  occupational exposure limit is likely to be exceeded. Wear chemical resistant apron chemical splash goggles, impervious gloves and Wellington boots.

A full slicker suit is recommended if gross exposure is possible.

ENVIRONMENTAL  PRECAUTIONS :

Do not allow to enter sewers or water courses. if spillage does enter sewers or water courses, immediately inform the appropriate water authorities                                                                                                                                       

METHODS FOR CLEANING UP:

Contain and absorb with sand or vermiculite and mix well. Collect up and remove to a safe place until disposal. Wash site of spillage thoroughly with water and detergent. Assistance can obtained from waste disposal companies.

 

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE


 HANDLING:

Prevent contact with skin, eyes and clothing. If clothing is contaminated remove clothing and thoroughly wash the affected area. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse. Do not take internally. Use with adequate ventilation

STORAGE CONDITIONS:

Keep container tightly closed in a cool well-ventilated place. Store separately from acids storage for more than one year is not recommended. Avoid use of aluminum, zinc, tin and their alloys and polyester elastomers.

CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL COMPATIBILITY. COMPATIBLE WITH:

Equipment for storage and application should be constructed from stainless steel , cast iron PVC polypropylene, polyethylene, acrylic resin, nylon, butyl, rubber, nitrile rubber, natural rubber or ethylene
